Mrs. Gina Pitts -
Acting CEO
Trained in the UK at Oldchurch Hospital, Romford, Essex, as a Registered General Nurse in 1987. Worked as a staff nurse in a combined, medical unit of coronary care and intensive care in Milton Keynes, UK.
Mrs Gina Pitts then moved into community nursing and became a family practice nursing sister, specialising in asthma and coronary care. After qualifying as teacher she then became a Lecturer/Practitioner in Practice Nursing at Oxford Brookes University.
Mrs Pitts then took up the position of a Health Care Service Manager at Cranfield University, Beds in the UK. Her role included overseeing health and safety management for the evacuation trials on the newly launched Airbus A380. She also gained recognition/grant from the British Heart Foundation to run CPR courses for laypersons, which she did for 5 years.
Mrs Pitts moved to Barbados in 2002 where she volunteered for the Heart & Stroke Foundation, and became ECC Project Co-ordinator. Her professional career in Barbados began as a tutor at the Barbados Community College, teaching and co-ordinating student nurses. She also formulated and the co-ordinated the curriculum the first ever Paramedic Course in the Caribbean. As the current registrar for the Barbados National Registry for Chronic Non-communicable Disease (BNR) the alliance of roles has worked very well with 2011 seeing Mrs Pitts return as a consultant to the Heart and Stroke Foundation as the ECC manager with a very able staff complement supporting/conducting the ECC courses.
