The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados has established a
strong network of partnerships that has contributed to the successful
implementation and execution of many of our projects and programmes.
The following organisations assist the Foundation:
The Bank of Nova Scotia
assisted in the publishing of the Foundation’s magazine, Heartline, having
sponsored the cost of production of the July – September 2006 edition.
Banks Holding Ltd. sponsors,
since July 2006, a full page “Advertorial” which appears on the first Wednesday
of each month in the Nation.
Barbados Community Fund assists
a number of indigent Barbadians to participate in the Cardiovascular Disease
Prevention and Rehabilitation programme, free of charge.
Barbados National Bank Inc. has
made a substantial annual donation to the Foundation and provided financial
backing for the November 2004 "Care for Life" programme.
Barbados Shipping and Trading Company
Limited is supporting the Foundation by means of a five year covenant to
cover the cost of providing stress testing.
Cardiac Technical Services Ltd.
provided the technical cardiac entry and exit requirements to the CDP&R
programme, free of cost, for over twelve years.
Cingular Wireless sponsored the
Foundation in conducting a public education Media Campaign “Heart Smart” in 2005/6
aimed at providing an enhanced level of information on heart disease prevention.
Collins Ltd has provided since
2004 significant annual support in the Foundation’s initiative to expand the
Heart Health and Wellness Profile ‘Taking It to the Next Level’. Collins Ltd
was
also involved in the tackling tobacco control campaign and in particular efforts
to make Cricket World Cup 2007 non-smoking.
Dacosta Mannings sponsored a
major healthy lifestyle campaign, “Heart Smart Fitness Challenge”, through the
national press, radio and TV, launched in May 2006 based on our Cardiovascular
Disease Prevention and Rehabilitation programme in the “Gym with a difference”. DMI has also donated equipment for the gym.
Digicel assisted in the
publishing of the Foundation’s magazine, Heartline, by sponsoring the cost of
production of the April - June 2006 edition, Digicel also sponsored the
Foundation’s fundraising Premiere of the film "Santa Clause 3" in
November 2006.
The accounting firm of Deloitte
are auditors to the Foundation on a pro bono basis.
Esso Standard Oil S. A. Ltd.
provided a scholarship grant to enable the CDP&R Manager to participate in the
ExxonMobil Foundation’s “Global Women in Management” Training Course in
Washington, DC in August/September 2006.
Guardian Life of the Caribbean
committed in 2005 to a three year partnership with the Foundation to sponsor our
annual World Heart Day event and then Barbados Heart & Stroke Week 2006 “How Young is Your Heart”
and 2007 "Team Up For Healthy Hearts" The partnership was
renewed in 2007 for a further three years.
Lasco (Barbados) Limited
provides sponsorship which allows indigent Barbadians to participate in the
Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Rehabilitation programme free of charge.
Lasco was a significant sponsor of the 4th Emergency Cardiac Care Conference
2005 held in Barbados under the auspices of the Foundation.
Max Adda Paramedic Rescue Trust
provided an annual grant (2002-2006) to enable the Foundation to extend its Emergency
Cardiac Care Training Programme particularly for youth.
Pfizer Caribbean provided a
medical education grant in 2008 to cover the cost of training for the CDP&R
nurses in Cardiac Rehabilitation Nursing Principles.
RBC Royal Bank of Canada
assisted in the publishing of the Foundation’s magazine, Heartline, sponsoring
the cost of production of the July-September 2005 edition. RBC has also
underwritten the costs of the fundraising concert at Holders in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
S.O.J.E./Lonsdale developed the
“Heart Smart” TV campaign based on the survey of knowledge, attitudes and
practices with respect to heart disease in Barbados in 2005. S.O.J.E./Lonsdale
produced the new livery for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados in 2006
and the logo for the Healthy Caribbean 2008 Conference.
Sagicor General Insurance Inc
has agreed to partner the Foundation for three years, from 2005, in presenting
the annual Healthy Lifestyle Seminar for Business and Professional Executives.
SBI Distribution Inc.
distributors for Mornflake Oats and Cereals assisted in the publishing Heartline,
by sponsoring the cost of production of
the October - December 2006 and 2007 edition.
Stokes & Bynoe Ltd has provided
since 2004 significant annual support in the Foundation’s initiative to expand
the Heart Health and Wellness Profile “Taking It to the Next Level”. Stokes and Bynoe Ltd was the major sponsor of the 4th Emergency Cardiac Care Conference
2005 held in Barbados under the auspices of the Foundation.
Super Centre launched a
Stoplight campaign in their stores highlighting healthy foods through a joint
publication “Heart Disease and Strokes”. Super Centre has also assisted in the
publishing of the Foundation’s magazine, Heartline, by sponsoring the cost of
production of the January - March 2006 edition.
