Dr. Roland Toppin
Dr. Toppin received his secondary education at Harrison College, Barbados, following which he went on to receive the B.Sc. (General) - Chemistry & Economics, Upper Second Class Honours degree from the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies, the Master of Science degree in Chemistry, from the University of Cincinnati and Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry, also from the University of Cincinnati. In addition, his academic achievements include certificates in Personnel Management and Human Resource Development, Basic Accounting & Book-keeping and Fundamentals of Database Management, all with Distinction, from the Barbados Institute of Management and Productivity. In addition, he holds a certificate in "The Chairman's Programme" from the Irish Management Institute in Ireland.
Dr. Toppin brings a wealth of experience from many disciplines to his new position as Chief Executive Officer of the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados Inc. (HSFB). He is a former Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the Raymond Walters College of the University of Cincinnati and Director of Research at the Sugar Technology Research Unit of the Barbados Sugar Industry Limited/Barbados Agricultural Management Company where he was in charge of the sugar factory research arm of the Barbados sugar industry. Immediately prior to joining the Foundation, he held the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) for four years and before that as General Manager of the multi-award winning, plastics recycling company, Duraplast Inc. for seven years.
