Keeping fit for 2007

Plans are already well advanced for the Healthy Lifestyle Seminar for Business and Professional Executives, hosted by the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados in partnership with Sagicor General Insurance Inc. The Seminar will be held this year on Thursday, 6th July in the familiar setting of Sherbourne Conference Centre.

Under the theme “Healthy Heart Living – Keeping Fit For 2007”, participants can look forward to dynamic presentations by leading physicians and professionals, including Tony Marshall, President of the Barbados Cricket association, who will set the scene for the morning’s proceedings when he speaks on “Cricket World Cup 2007 – A Great Opportunity”.

Dr. Adrian Lorde, Family Physician and Vice President of the Barbados Olympic Association will examine “Skipping to get fit”. This particular topic will provide excellent tips on exercises that executives can participate in even without leaving their office. Courtesy of Sagicor General all participants will receive a skipping rope to keep on “Keeping Fit For 2007”.

Dr. Colin Alert, Family Physician, will address the topic “Physical Activity and Health in Barbados” looking particularly at the connections between being fit and enjoying good health.

Professor Henry Fraser will conclude the formal proceedings with a discourse on “Live like you love life” combining the principles of healthy lifestyles with positive attitudes.

As usual, the seminar will be facilitated by Dr. Basil Springer of the Caribbean Business Enterprise Trust and there will be interactive Round Table discussion on each topic, with summations by the speakers.

The programme begins at 7.45 a.m. with a healthy style breakfast and goes through to 12.35 p.m., when participants will be entertained to lunch, and there will be a guest speaker.

David Deane, Managing Director of Sagicor General Insurance Inc. said “We are delighted to be partnering with the Heart & Stroke Foundation in presenting the Annual Healthy Lifestyle Seminar. We know as insurers that the promotion of a fitness lifestyle for executives will be good not only for the companies at which they work but also for the individuals themselves.”

Thanks to the very generous partnership sponsorship from Sagicor General the Heart & Stroke Foundation is able to offer attendance at the seminar at an especially discounted all inclusive cost of $100. This registration fee includes seminar literature, which is a very handy reference document, plus breakfast, refreshments and lunch. A discount of 10% will be offered to any company registering ten delegates or more.

This is a seminar not to be missed, and interested persons are invited to register early to be assured of places at GET FIT FOR BUSINESS, which promises to be an enjoyable and learning experience. Bookings may be made with Mrs. Stephanie Catling-Birmingham at 437-3312.
