Heart Foundation appoints two
 |
The Heart Foundation of Barbados has
announced the appointment of two senior staff. They are Mrs.
Gina Pitts, who takes up the newly created post of Emergency
Cardiac Care (ECC) Manager, and Mrs. Kim Clarke-Grant,
Cardiac Disease Prevention & Rehabilitation (CDP&R) Manager.
Both appointments took effect from the
1st February 2006.
Human Resources and Administration
Manager Stephanie Catling-Birmingham noted that both these
appointments come at a time when the Heart Foundation of
Barbados is on the threshold of once again 'taking it to the
next level'.

She said, “As we embark on our 21st
Anniversary, the management of the Heart Foundation of Barbados
is moving to ensure that, not only is the mission of 'keeping
people heart healthy' achieved, but also that the Foundation has
the adequate resources to ensure that its development is
sustained.”
The appointment of an ECC Manager comes at a
time when the Heart Foundation is looking to proactively expand
its Cardiac Life Support and First Aid training programmes to
businesses, institutions, schools and individuals across the
island and in the region.
Mrs. Pitts has been connected to the Heart
Foundation of Barbados since 2002, when she joined as a
volunteer. She has been an instructor and instructor trainer for
Cardiac Life Support and First Aid training courses, and has
been project co-ordinator for some of the Heart Foundation’s
major Care For Life mass training courses, where large numbers
of persons were instructed in Basic Cardiac Life Support and
First Aid in one daily session.
Mrs. Pitts has lectured at the Barbados
Community College and was a nursing practitioner at that
tertiary instituton. Prior to coming to Barbados she was Health
Care Service Manager at Cranfield University in Bedfordshire in
the UK.
She is the mother of two sons, Thomas, aged
14 and Carson, 9.

Mrs. Clarke-Grant takes over the
management of the Heart Foundation’s CDP&R programme
following the departure of Mrs. Shirley Gill, who resigned
to take up residence overseas. Mrs. Clarke-Grant has been
with the Heart Foundation since 1997, and was until her
recent appointment the assistant manager of the CDP&R
programme. She is an instructor for Heart Saver and BCLS
