The Heart and Stroke Foundation recently received a
healthy injection of over BDS $7000 when sweethearts, family, friends and
associates came together for the second annual Ocean Park Valentine’s Day
Dinner and Chinese auction at the Marine Aquarium’s idyllic setting, at
Balls, Christ Church.
Managing Director of Ocean Park Barbados, Patricia Dass
said Ocean Park was elated that its second Valentine’s event to raise
awareness and funds for the fight against heart disease in Barbados, had
been able to surpass last year’s proceeds by over $3000.
Dass said with heart disease being a major problem in
Barbados, it was in recognition of this challenge that the

Heart and Stroke Foundation would continue as the
beneficiary for an inaugural Valentine’s event hosted by Ocean Park Barbados.
CEO of the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados, Adrian
Randall, said the organisation was indeed grateful to have been chosen as
the beneficiary once again, expressing thanks to Ocean Park, and to the
various organisations who donated auction items. "We were delighted when for
the second year running Ocean Park approached us to be involved in their now
annual Valentine's event. We are extremely grateful to Ocean Park for
donating the proceeds of their two charity auctions to the Heart & Stroke
Foundation of Barbados. The amount raised this year in excess of $7,000 is
truly magnificent.”

Volunteers were kept very busy by all, particularly by Tony DelCastilho

|
Randall said raising funds and awareness to help in the
prevention and treatment of heart disease and stroke in Barbados continues as a
major objective for the registered charity whose mission is: ' to keep people
heart healthy and reduce suffering and death from heart disease and stroke'.
 |
He said no one should be made to suffer and go without
available treatment because of lack of funds.
“We seek to ensure that all those Barbadians who need our Cardiovascular
Disease Prevention and Rehabilitation Programme are not turned away because
they cannot afford to pay for the programme. Therefore funding such as this
helps to meet that particular objective. We hope that the partnership with
Ocean Park which started last year will continue to grow.” (SS)
